Mr. Todd Named One of 50 Top Band Directors
Georgia Bridgemen Band Director, Charles Todd, has been named as one of the "50 Band Directors Who Make a Difference" by the national publication School Band & Orchestra. An exemplary director from each state in the US was honored, and Charles Todd was chosen to represent Georgia in this prestigious group of professionals. Mr Charles E Todd II One of 50 Directors Who Make a Difference

Charles Todd has been making a difference with Lowndes students since 1979 when he began as an Assistant Band Director at LHS. After one year there, he served as the Band Director at Lowndes Middle for 19 years. He then returned to the high school where he has been making a difference for the last ten years.

It all started when Charles Todd began piano lessons in elementary school. Playing bass parts on the organ in a neighborhood band then led to playing the bass guitar, which he played professionally behind numerous well known artists. Having also played drums and tympani in his high school and college bands, Mr. Todd said, "My college band director, Samuel Berry, suggested I try teaching. He knew of a position with Lowndes and recommended me for the position." In that position, Todd found a career and met his wife.

"Without a doubt the people who have made the biggest difference in my life are my family," said Todd. His parents were both school administrators who taught him the value of helping others and helping others learn to help themselves. He said he learned the value of commitment and compassion from his wife and children. "I realize that every student I teach is someone's child. I am committed to treat every student the way I would want my child treated. Not only do I want them to learn music from me, but life lessons as well."

"The best part of my job is working with great young people and parents.  Having 350 of the best students at LHS is an honor, and speaks volumes for what we are about.  These students know the value of hard work and commitment, and dedicate themselves to making the band the best that it can be," stated Todd.
