President's Letter
--Steve Stalvey

Greetings,
Have you ever wondered what it takes to bring the gold home to TitleTown, USA?
For the Georgia Bridgeman, just a little H.U.S.T.L.E is all.

Honor - Honor is earned, and these students earn it on the field, in the classroom, and in their communities.  From Bridges in band camp to honor graduates – including valedictorian and salutatorian – to volunteering in their communities, you’ll see the Bridgemen living out their desire to do their best and be the best.

Unity – What does it take to get 280 instruments on key, 28 kicks at the same height, and 50 flags tossed in the air – all in perfect unity?  Practice, practice, and more practice.  It starts in band camp – two weeks of up to 14 hour days under the 100 plus degree July sun.  During football season, it’s three days a week after school, then every Friday night in a not-so-comfortable-although- awesome-looking-uniform.  And it’s not over till the last note is played…usually sometime in the spring.

Superior –You have to be the best of the best to perform where this year’s seniors have performed.  They’ve marched in parades and competitions in Pasadena, California, Chicago, Illinois, Orlando, Florida, Washington D.C., and more!  The Georgia Bridgemen have the superior rankings to back up their Tradition Of Excellence.

Teamwork – You’ll see 360+ Bridgemen in the new band section and on the field this Friday night and every other Friday night the Lowndes’ Vikings hit the gridiron.  What you may not see are the other team members it takes to get them there.   A great big thanks to Dr. Steve Smith, superintendent; the BOE members; Wes Taylor, LHS principal; the transportation department, which keeps 12 buses running up and down the road; teachers who allow band students to make up missed class work; our band boosters, band parents, and other sponsors; and most important our God for all His provisions, especially the miles and miles of safe travel.

Leadership – It takes someone special to master mind the logistics of the Bridegmen – from where every individual stands on what precise note during the show to who rides on which bus from here to there.  Mr. Todd, his associates, and the many committees who help ensure the success of the Georgia Bridgemen make this task look easy.  The Bridgemen are who they are today because of this leadership.

Effort – It takes the effort of the whole community to support such a program as the Georgia Bridgemen.  We could not do it without you.  In today’s economy where every dollar is precious and everybody is asking for that dollar, be sure to invest your money where the returns are guaranteed.   Please continue to support our Bridgemen throughout the year in their fundraisers including the boston butt sale and discount cards as well as the annual Battle on the Border band competition hosted by the Bridgemen on Saturday October 11, 2008.  In addition, please consider becoming a sponsor.
So, whether it’s the Pacific Coast, the Atlantic Coast, or anywhere in between,  no matter where the Bridgemen take the field or the asphalt, you can count on them to bring the gold home to TitleTown,  USA!

Hustle & March On Georgia Bridgemen!!!
